Anyone been to the concerts at Hyde Park?
Can you take your own food and drinks?
Been told you can't but I'm sure people do, don't they?

Re: Anyone been to the concerts at Hyde Park?
Are you talking about the shows on there currently? The answer is no.

Going to see Stevie Wonder on Sunday and the tickets/website are quite clear about not taking any food or drink with you.

Re: Anyone been to the concerts at Hyde Park?
I've seen Bon Jovi (waits for abuse) a couple of times at Hyde Park and it was the usual concert bag search etc... you may sneak in a few miniature bottles, but you're not getting away with a case of lager

Beer was c£4.50 a pint and Turborg if I remember

Re: Anyone been to the concerts at Hyde Park?
Drink usually says no bottles or cans

Food? No idea.

JONESY 2:52 Wed Jul 6
Re: Anyone been to the concerts at Hyde Park?
only thing you can take in is a bottle of water.

they do bag search but not pockets. as said, you'd only get a few miniatures in, so not worth it.

I went on Friday to Massive Attack. No food or drink (or golf umbrellas) allowed in.

Pretty thorough searches too, checked if a bottle of water i had had been opened.

Decently run concert though, i walked up to a bar at one point and there must have been 25 people waiting to serve me.

Re: Anyone been to the concerts at Hyde Park?
There are strict limits on booze at the proms, stewey. They're just fairly easy to get around ;)

Saw Carol King on Sunday and second JONESYs remark about the wine. 22 quid and warm.

Get pissed before you go in - had to walk through Hyde Park to get there and there seemed to be a load of old duffers doing exactly that!

Re: Anyone been to the concerts at Hyde Park?
went last Saturday to see Florence and the Machine. A few pointers: 1) unless you have paid for Premium view tickets, get there fucking early or you wont see anything.2) the sound is generally shit, so if you find you cant see anything stand near a speaker stack, at least you'll be able to hear. 3) no you cant take anything in alcoholic or food wise, and not even a bottle of water larger than 33cl. They tip the water out and give you the plastic bottle back to get it refilled inside. 4) security going in is like being at the airport, so see point 1) above and get there early to get a good spot.

Food and drink are not extortionate price wise, but you are a captive audience literally, so take some cash.

Re: Anyone been to the concerts at Hyde Park?
I saw Faith No More, Black Sabbath, Soundgarden, Motorhead and Soulfly at a festival there a few years back and it was bloody excellent. The sound wasn't great at times earlier in the day as it was windy as fuck. We'd had a few beers beforehand so didn't bother attempting to bring anything in with us, the queues inside in between bands was woeful and I missed a fair bit of Soundgarden's set in the queue for a beer (I could still hear them though)

There's a reason the sound was shit, andy....
